Course Completion Guidelines
Course enrollment is for nine months and begins the day course payment is processed in the Office of Correspondence Studies. No course may be completed in fewer than forty-five days, which does not imply that any or all courses can be completed in forty-five days. Many courses have requirements that make completion in forty-five days impossible. It is your responsibility to understand the individual course-time constraints to complete a course within your personal timeline (i.e., graduation, employer deadline, etc.). A course is completed when the final exam is taken, or for courses without a final exam, when the final assignment is submitted.
Enrollment Extension
If you do not complete a course within nine months, you may have your enrollment extended one time only for a period of three months by paying an additional $35. To request an enrollment extension, complete the Extend Enrollment Form and submit this form, along with the $35 extension fee, to our office.

Note: The extended enrollment period expires three months after the original expiration date of the course and not from the date of payment for the three-month extension. No enrollment may last longer than twelve months. Failure to complete the course before your enrollment period expires will cause you to forfeit the right to complete the course. If you still need the course credit, you must enroll again, pay the full fee, and begin with the first lesson. If the course has been revised, different textbooks and course materials may be required. If the course is no longer available at the time enrollment expires, you will not be able to re-enroll.
Grades and Deadlines
Texas State students taking the final exam in the Office of Correspondence Studies should schedule testing a minimum of four weeks before they need the grade to be posted to their transcirpt. Students who have a final exam proctored off-campus should allow five weeks for the final grade to be reported to the Texas State Registrar.
