Travel Alert for Mexico
The U.S. Department of State has issued a Travel Alert for Mexico regarding the violence along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Online payments accepted

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ALREADY ENROLLED STUDY ABROAD STUDENTS!

Once enrolled in a Texas State Study Abroad Program, all subsequent payments can be made using either of the following two options:

A) Online payments: Go to http://uweb.txstate.edu/gao/study_abroad/

B) Cash and check payments are accepted at the Cashier's Office,
located on the first floor of the JC Kellam Administration Building. Be sure
to bring your Texas State ID number with you, and indicate to the cashier
that you are paying for a Study Abroad Program. Please pay the amount
indicated on the payment schedule for your program.

All study abroad registrations and first payments must be made in the Study Abroad Office located at 302 ASB North

Let us show you the world.The Texas State Study Abroad Fair gives you the chance to meet with study abroad professionals from a variety of organizations and obtain information about study abroad programs around the world. Mark your calendars! The fair will be October 2, 2008 from 10 am to 2 pm in the Academic Services Building Breezeway. For more information about the Texas State Study Abroad Fair, contact the Texas State Study Abroad Office.

If you are a member of a department or organization at Texas State and would like to participate in the Study Abroad Fair, you can read the Letter to On-Campus Departments and Organizations and fill out the On-Campus Registration Form.

If you are not associated with Texas State and would like to participate in the Study Abroad Fair, you can read the Letter to Off-Campus Participants and fill out the Off-Campus Registration Form. For directions to San Marcos, and for information about parking and shuttle service, and check-in, refer to the Off-Campus Participant Information Sheet.

Wanted: Texas State Study Abroad Photos
The Texas State Office of Study Abroad Programs will host a photo exhibit of the best photographs taken by Texas State Study Abroad students during the 2007-2008 academic year. If you think you have some good photographs, please submit them to us by September 15, 2008. The best images will be selected and will be part of the next study abroad exhibit.

Gilman Scholarship
Texas State students may qualify for the Gilman International Scholarship Program. For more information, refer to our Financial Assistance page and visit the Gilman International Scholarship website.
Study Abroad Health and Safety
For any emergencies related to students participating in Texas State study abroad programs, please contact the University Police Department at 512.245.2805 (available 24 hours).

The Texas State Office of Study Abroad Programs recently contracted with International SOS, a medical, security, and travel assistance company, to provide service coverage for Texas State faculty and students participating in faculty-led study abroad programs. Study Abroad students and faculty may contact our office to learn more about International SOS and how to access this company’s services.
International Education Fee Scholarship (IEFS) Application Period
The IEFS application period for students participating in study abroad programs during the Fall of 2008 is from April 1, 2008, to April 25, 2008. We strongly recommend you attend one of the following information sessions:

April 11, 2008 at 3:00 pm, 302 ASB North

April 18, 2008 at 3:00 pm, 302 ASB North

April 24, 2008 at 3:00 pm, 302 ASB North

New Passport Requirements
Beginning January 23, 2007, almost all travelers entering the United States by air will be required to present passports. For further information on this new requirement, see the website of the U.S. Department of State.
ISIC and ITIC no longer available at the Office of Study Abroad Programs
The Texas State Office of Study Abroad Programs no longer issues the International Student and Teacher Identity Cards (ISIC and ITIC). Students and faculty interested in applying for either of these cards may do so online at www.myisic.com.
