What You Will Learn
This program focuses on issues and trends related to the education of children from diverse language and/or cultural backgrounds. Students study the integrative approach to reading and writing in the elementary school classroom while considering global audiences and technology issues.

The program includes rhetorical and technical principles in compositional practices necessary for writing reports, instructions, and documents; clutural awareness and sensitivity; language difference; gnder issues; and immigrant and urban education. Lastly, you will be enrolled in a daily basic Spanish-for-communication workshop to learn the local lingo, and thus be able to communicate.

The City
Cuautla is located to the southeast of Cuernavaca, in the lowlands of the state of Morelos, in which sugarcane is one of the principal crops. Thus, Cuautla is in a region where many haciendas were established. In 1829 the city was decreed the "Heroic City of Morelos" by the Congress of the State of Mexico; the city's name means "where eagles abound."
