Rome, Florence, & Venice, Italy
What You Will Learn
This program gives Texas State students a chance to experience major cultural centers of western civilization. Participants will attend classes in an art school (ARTIS) in the historical center of Florence and take field trips to Pisa, Siena, Venice and Rome. Students will have the opportunity to stand before actual sites of historical importance. Check the itinerary for the extensive and thorough introduction to some of the world's greatest art. While the program offers slide-illustrated classes in the mornings, participants will devote their afternoons to visiting the important sites discussed and to developing their photography and drawing skills in an environment that has stimulated artists for centuries.
The Country
Italy is a dream destination. The Italian museums are bursting with the genius of Italy's finest sons: Raffaello, Michelangelo, Tiziano, and Canova. Contemporary architects are still inspired by ancient Italian buildings and squares. Italian cities are veritable living museums. According to UNESCO, the United Nations' cultural branch, two-thirds of the world's historical artistic heritage is in Italy.
